In addition to the $40 application fee paid to the U.S., there will be an application service fee

Details of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security application fee ($40)
Operational fee ($ 10)：Costs associated with processing applications for the Electronic Travel Authorization system, as well as system maintenance and operational management
Travel promotion fee ($ 17)：Costs for promoting travel to the United States using the Electronic System for Travel Authorization
Treasury General Fund fee ($ 13)：Expenses allocated to the U.S. Treasury’s General Fund in connection with the Electronic System for Travel Authorization
* If the electronic travel authorization is rejected, only the Operational fee ($ 10) will be charged.
Fees are prepaid by credit card and are due upon completion of the application and clicking the “Pay Now” button on its fee payment page.
Payment can only be made by credit card (Visa, Master Card, JCB, American Express, Diners Club).
After entering the application information, the credit card payment page will appear to be followed.

Receipts
A receipt for your application fee will be sent by email.
If you like to receive a receipt, enter “Receipt requested” on the inquiry form and click “Submit.”
Cancellation
If your cancellation request was received before we begin registration of your ESTA application on the DHS (U.S. Department of Homeland Security) system based on the information you have provided, we will refund the difference in the amount of the refund, with the customer being asked to pay only 560 yen for the transaction fee.
Depending on your response to eligibility and nationality questions, we may ask you additional questions by e-mail in order to continue the application process. In this case, we will hold the application process until we receive your response. If we do not receive a response to the question within 2 weeks after we ask, your application for this service will be cancelled, and we will refund the amount of the fee you have paid, minus 560 yen transaction fee.
Once an application has been registered and its status reflected in the system, no cancellations or refunds will be accepted. The same applies when the application status is pending certification.
Due to the specifications of the DHS (Department of Homeland Security) system, it is not possible to cancel the application or the certification itself after the application for certification has been submitted.
